I  work in pastels from photos, each artwork takes around 4 weeks to complete so please let me know if your portrait is needed by a specific date and allow enough time. Your portrait will be supplied mounted.

The first step is to email me  ([email protected]) to discuss your commission and send me your photo(s). The photos are really important, I need clear, sharp close ups of your animal, high resolution images so I can see the detail. Outside light is usually good so I can get a true representation of his/her fur or feathers, try to fill the camera viewfinder with your pet's head, for smaller animals get down on their level or position them onto something so you're not looking down on them, treats or noises to get their attention can work wonders!  Depending on your location I may be able to come and take the photos at no extra charge or for minimal travel costs. You can also post me prints of your photo(s), all photos are returned.

I ask for a deposit to secure your booking, through paypal or bank transfer, the remainder is payable once your artwork is complete and you are happy.  Once you have chosen your paper and mount colour and we have had a chat about your animal and your ideas for your portrait I will email you my initial sketch for approval, if you like what you see I will get started with my pastels and send you updates along the way so you can see how it is progressing, once I am provisionally finished you will be sent the final photo, there can be alterations made to get everything perfect, then once you are 100% delighted the remaining balance is requested and your portrait will be sprayed with fixative, mounted, and on its way to you.

I retain the copyright of my artwork, I normally post photos of completed works in my gallery here and on my facebook page, if this is not ok please just let me know.
